Natural rarities of Mariovo region
As a valley, which in certain geological periods was under water, meaning it was a lake basin, built with high mountains, the region of Mariovo is a real rarity. This area possesses a great number of values from animal, plant, geomorphological, mineral or hydrographic origin which are by themselves natural rarities and could be met in Mariovo only.

Fossil remains – village Manastir
During the exploitation of the diatomaceous earth in the village Manastir, in Prilep, fossil remains of fish and other animals that live underwater were found.
Thallium’s Ore–lorandite from Allchar Mine in the village Majdan
As a kind of its own rarity is the finding of the thallium and thallium mineral lorandite, in the Allchar Mine, near the village Majdan in Kavadarci Municipality. The thallium has some characteristics significant for the exploration of the sun because it enables the discovery of the particle neutrino, which comes on earth through the sunrays.

Tree “Gol Chovek” (Naked Man)
The Tree “Gol Chovek” can be seen down the valley of Crna River in its lower course, near the place where it flows into Vardar. It is a specific winter tree, and the colour of the bark reminds of a human’s skin which peels and the new bark becomes copper red in colour. This rare tree has tiny pale yellow flowers and red fruits in shape of beans.
Caves in Mariovo
As a kind of attraction, one should point to the two caves with a vertical entrance in the villages Melnica and Zhivovo. The cave in the surrounding of the village Galishte, in Kavadarci, is famous for its richness in stalactites and stalagmites with a unique form –round and in cascade shapes and forms. Despite the Galicki Dol, there is also one more cave opulent in decorations, known as the Water Cave.

Volcanic rocks
As a natural rarity, it is of utmost importance to mention the numerous denudation forms of rocks having volcanic origin in the surrounding of the villages Krushevica, Chanishte, Dunje, Peshtani, Kokre, Kalen, Gudajkovo, Zhivovo, Orle, Makovo, Rapesh, Brnik, Iveni, as well as the characteristic natural shapes with dome and sharp peaks near the villages Vitolishte, Polchishte, Beshishte, Gradeshnica and Staravina. Some of the greater forms, as the peak Pandele near Polchishte or Peshta between Gradeshnica and Staravina, are especially attractive.

Kravica
Kravica is a volcanic rock, part of the Mariovo – Kajmakchalan volcanic area, which was active more than 2 million year ago. According to the legend, sometime in the past on the peak of a rock а cow calved, and that is how the name of one of the most noticeable locations in Mariovo came. With an altitude of 1160 metres, Kravica can easily be noticed from most of Mariovo. It is located at around 400 meters in the territory of the Republic of Greece.
